The Craft Contemporary Gala recognizes and celebrates artists and supporters of craft who have made a substantial contribution to the museum and the crafting community in Los Angeles and beyond. A festive cocktail event featuring delicious food, open bar, live DJ music, and spirited conversation with many of LA’s contemporary crafters and makers, all proceeds from the gala directly support Craft Contemporary’s exhibition program highlighting emerging and underrecognized artists, as well as the museum’s unique public programs which specialize in hands-on experiences that deepen our relationship to art, each other, and ourselves.
The Craft Contemporary Gala also features a silent auction promoting a diverse collection of artworks and experiences provided by some of LA’s most respected artists working in the realm of contemporary craft. Auction contributors include Carmen Argote, Lavialle Campbell, Beatriz Cortez, Gronk, Rosalyn Miles, Wayne Perry, Ann Weber, and Bari Ziperstein.
Guests at this year’s Craft Contemporary Gala will also be among the first to see our recently installed fall shows — Lezley Saar: Diorama Drama; Luis Flores: Because of You, In Spite of You; and Tactics of Erasure and Rewriting Histories.
