Clay Seed Pods with Rosie Brand

What can we learn from looking closely at seed pods, by dancing their dance? Seed pods hold lessons about carrying precarious futures, transforming themselves, and knowing when to let go—their intricate forms are a tactile language. In this one-day ceramics workshop, we’ll study locally foraged seed pods and translate their more-than-human architectures into clay. We will use hand-building techniques to create botanical sculptures while reflecting the human impact on local ecology and how we can support native habitats. Through hands-on making and conversation, artist Rosie Brand invites participants of all experience levels to explore these ideas together; each person will create one or more sculptures to be fired and returned in a few weeks.
