Family Workshop: Earth Frequencies with Amanda Maciel Antunes

Join artist Amanda Maciel Antunes (aka dama) for a special sound-gathering workshop, Earth Frequencies. Participants will learn how to become attuned to the frequencies of the Earth through deep listening and slow moving. Beginning with a field recording outside the museum, participants will capture sonic textures emerging from soil, wind, water, insects, and the vibrations that inhabit the ground beneath our feet. Gathered sounds and written impressions will be woven into a collaborative soundscape in the galleries, transforming the walk into a shared exploration of the Earth’s resonant field.

About the route: We’ll start at the museum and walk through the Tar Pits, stopping every 20 minutes to be seated and gather sounds. The terrain is flat, wide and paved. A map of the walking route will be provided at the front desk at Craft Contemporary should you arrive late.
