RESIST! An African Way of Dyeing with Bebe LaMonica
Saturday, April 10, 2027 1:00pm - 3:00pm sliding scale $45-60
This workshop consists of two class sessions: April 10th and April 11th. Your payment includes both classes and materials.
Discover the rich textile traditions of Nigeria through a hands-on workshop exploring Adire Eleko, a traditional Yoruba resist-dyeing practice. On Day 1, participants will learn how to prepare and apply a paste resist to cloth, creating unique designs either freehand or with stencils. On Day 2, once the designs have dried, participants will immerse their pieces in an indigo dye bath. As the dye develops and the resist is removed, intricate patterns and striking blue-and-white designs are revealed. No previous experience is required!
This workshop will take place outdoors.
