Craft Lab Family Workshop: Sgraffito Story Tiles with Lizbeth Navarro

Join teaching artist Lizbeth Navarro to create a ceramic tile that tells a story! Participants will use slab construction, underglaze, and the sgraffito technique to bring your unique tile to life. Sgraffito comes from the Italian word “graffiare” which means to scratch.  After building your own clay tile you will paint the surface with colored underglazes and scratch away designs to expose the clay underneath. Don’t forget to visit Kyungmi Shin: Origin Stories to see how Shin makes porcelain tiles that tell a story about culture and history. Craft Lab is for all ages, everyone is welcome! 

Space is limited. Advance tickets are required. All adults and children aged 3 and up must have a ticket to take part in the program.
